I'm extremely pleased that Democracy Now is offered in so many formats, especially Ogg Vorbis. However, I'm curious as to why the Ogg version is roughly twice as large as MP3 one. Given that Ogg is known to sound better than MP3 at low bitrates, shouldn't its encoding also be at 64 Kbps? The large filesize is a disincentive to downloading the Ogg version even though I'd prefer it over the MP3, and I think a smaller one would benefit tbe Archive from a bandwidth perspective.

Other than that, thanks for the effort you have made in providing the show in a wide variety of formats.

archive.org automatically encodes the files and doesn't yet provide a way to specify the bit rate of ogg files. It may be a feature in the future though.

could the future happen now? Also I know there is no streaming for ogg, but is there anyone out there who could contribute to the archive their services to make this happen? It would be so greatly appreciated! Mp3's are archaic(mp3's haven't been updated since the mid 90's)! It's sad for humanity to see mp3's as still an option knowing the truth behind them (being private/totalitarian/anti-growth licensing-wise and gnarly sound quality/greedy space taking-wise).

Thank you oh holy software developer-god archive.org lover types for contemplating this grand equation!!
